Koji Contemporary Japanese Kitchen
Within the open food hall of Kalle Halle in Berlin-Neukölln, Koji brings a distinct identity to a shared setting. Working within the food market’s defined framework, an open, lightweight structure gives the handroll bar a clear presence while keeping it welcoming and connected to its surroundings.
Drawing on Japanese craft traditions and the raw simplicity of fishing villages, the interior pairs raw steel with pale ash, charred ash and woven rattan. Light and dark, smooth and textured surfaces create a restrained material language, carried through the counter, shelving and furniture.
A suspended structure brings lighting and spatial definition together without enclosing the bar. Guided by a minimally invasive approach, each intervention is carefully placed to give Koji its own character within the industrial architecture of the hall.
